Jerwood Gallery Hastings

Jerwood Gallery Hastings

The Jerwood Gallery Hastings opened its doors for the first time on March 17th 2012 bringing a fantastic new attraction to the Stade in Hastings.

The striking building occupies a strategic position on the Stade in the heart of Hastings Old Town. The gloss black tiles of the exterior reflecting and mirroring its historic surroundings.

The Jerwood Gallery is an exciting project to create a permanent home for the Jerwood Collection, and a new regional venue for the Jerwood Visual Arts programme on the Stade in Hastings. Developed and fully funded by the Jerwood Foundation, the ambition is to create a major new cultural venue with regional and national importance, contribute to the regeneration of Hastings, and build fruitful partnerships with local organisations.

The Smugglers' Caves The Smuggler's Caves
by Fiona Cullen

Jack spends a lot of time in the Hastings caves - who wouldn't if they lived with Beth, stepmum from hell? What kind of hold does sinister Beth have over Jack's dad? And why is a frightened little terrier with a bulging stomach led into the caves one evening and dragged out the next morning looking very thin? What is hidden in the cavern at the end of the spooky Monks' Walk?. William the Conqueror put Hastings firmly on the map in 1066. The Smugglers' Caves, with its busloads of foreign students and its eccentric local characters, puts it firmly on the map today.

Copies of the book will be on sale soon at the Smugglers' Adventure, the Tourist Information Centre, Hastings Waterstones and the West Hill cliff lift.

Copies can also be puchased on Amazon here for £4.37 plus £2.80 p&P.
